Dr. Şükrü Sarper GÜRSU was born in Istanbul. After completing his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine; He completed his Orthopedics and Traumatology specialization, which he started at Baltalimanı Metin Sabancı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital, in 2009. After completing his compulsory service, he continued to work as an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital. He successfully passed the exam organized by TOTBİD-TOTEK in 2011 and was entitled to receive a board certificate.
In 2011, with the AO Trauma scholarship, he went to Austria for educational purposes with Prof. Dr. He went to Karl Peter Benedetto and increased his experience in sports traumatology and sports injuries. In 2012; Professor at Ghent University in Belgium with a Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopedique et de Traumatologie (SICOT) scholarship. Dr. Peter Verdonk and Prof. Dr. He worked on prosthetic surgery, regenerative interventions-stem cell and sports surgery together with Jan Victor. In 2018, with the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy (ESSKA) scholarship, Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Monllau and Prof. Dr. Working with Pedro Hinarejos, he increased his experience in degenerative knee diseases, robotic surgery and sports surgery.
He passed the exam in 2015 and received the title of associate professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology. On 14.04.2017, he joined the staff of the University of Health Sciences and continued his duty as a faculty member at SBU Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Health Application and Research Center.
Dr. Sarper Gürsu has been working at SBU Hamidiye Athlete Health and Sports Sciences Institute since 2019; He served as the founding director of the institute. He received the title of Professor in 2020. As of November 2023, he left public service and continues to serve his patients in his clinic in Vital Fulya Plaza.
Dr. Gürsu mainly deals with prosthetic surgery, prosthesis revision surgery, arthroscopy-sports surgery, cartilage disease treatment and foot surgery. He won many awards in his professional and scientific life, took part in the organization of many congresses and meetings, and served as session chair, trainer and speaker at the meetings. He has more than 70 articles in national and international journals, many book chapters and more than 150 scientific papers presented at national and international meetings.
A member of many scientific associations, Dr. Gursu; He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bone and Joint Surgery Association. He is an accredited trainer by ESSKA (European Association of Arthroscopy, Sports Surgery and Knee Surgery). He also serves in the U-45 commission within ESSKA. He is currently continuing his doctoral studies in Tissue Engineering at the University of Health Sciences.
